1949 Swing coat 96 cm (37.8") bust
Also available as a PDF pattern
This hip length swing coat is from the autumn of 1949. It has a high collar to keep the neck warm against the chilling winds. The original pattern included a pattern piece for the pocket flap, but not an actual pocket; therefore, I have made a patch pocket piece to help you (I appreciate pockets!). The front edges of the coat meet at the centre front, they do not overlap for buttons, however, this could easily be adapted to make a buttoned front. The sleeves have wide cuffs and the main seams on the coat are accentuated with thick topstitching. Wear it with a slim skirt for best effect.
