1949 Swing Coat 96 cm (37.8") bust. PDF pattern.
Also available as a printed PAPER pattern
This hip length swing-back coat from 1949 is a simple and comfortable style for autumn. It has a high collar to keep the neck warm against the chilling winds. The original pattern included a pattern piece for the pocket flap, but not an actual pocket; therefore, I have made a patch pocket piece to help you (I appreciate pockets!). The original design has the front edges of the coat meeting on the centre front line, i.e. without an overlap for buttons, however, this could easily be adapted to make a buttoned front. The sleeves have wide cuffs for extra styling and the main seams on the coat are accentuated with thick topstitching. Wear it with a slim skirt for best effect.
Available in one original size.
